Your Life

If you want to make a strong connection with your audience, let them see what your life is all about. You don't need to share photos of your kids or your home. Share information about your favorite restaurants, why you love where you live, and your favorite local barista, for example. All of these allow people into your life in a subtle, impactful way.

  • Favorite restaurant
  • Favorite part of the city you live in
  • Your charity
  • What you love about hosting open houses
  • Favorite room in a new listing
  • Go-to breakfast
  • Best workout tip(s)
  • A typical weekend

Whether you post photos on social media, talk about your life on a podcast, or create videos to share on multiple platforms, you're letting people see who you are. Your audience thrives on connections, so share more than your latest home sale or newest listing. As we explained in Part 1 of this series, video is one of the best ways to connect with your audience. Consider filming a quick video on your phone and posting (it doesn't have to be perfect).

Inspiration

What inspires you? Positive quotes, recipes, entertaining?. If you love positive quotes, you could create a free graphic in Canva. Pick a background matching your brand colors, add your logo and contact information, and post a quote in an expressive font (not Arial or Sans).

  • Positive quotes
  • Inspiring books
  • Home seller tips
  • Home buyer tips
  • Best ____ for your new home
  • Stress-relieving activities
  • Recipes that please
  • Favorite winter gear
  • Advice from Grandma
  • Tackling repairs one-by-one

Whatever inspires you can inspire your audience. Visit websites or social media platforms of your favorite business or entrepreneurs to see what they're sharing. Ask yourself how you could do something similar. Get quotes from your favorite podcasts. Share testimonials and include a background story from your home buyer or seller. Share your favorite winter gear for your outdoor workout and inspire someone to get moving. All of this inspires!

Whatever inspires you, can inspire your audience.

Consider choosing a theme from the list above and post related content on social media each week. For example, on Tuesdays, post advice from grandma. My grandma worked in retail, and she told me to pick up anything I saw on the floor vs. walking past it (times have changed; use a rubber glove these days). "If you see it, pick it up." This might include a shirt that fell off a hanger or a candy wrapper. You could share this advice with help home sellers who are trying to keep a tidy home and be prepared for showings. For instance, if you see mud in the entry, immediately wipe it up instead of walking past it.  Try a weekly theme and ask followers to share their related stories.  You’re likely to see a lot more engagement from your audience.

Create a recurring weekly theme: 'Advice from Grandma'

Sharing your inspiration provides one more way for your audience to get to know you better and see beyond your real estate title. In turn, they see you as someone they would like to have by their side as they buy or sell a house. You couldn't ask for more than that!
