Brand Storytelling

Imagine getting more engagement from your social media followers through the power of brand storytelling.  What is brand storytelling?  First, it's a marketing technique you can use to set yourself apart from everyone else by creating memorable stories for your followers.  Second, you can use your narrative to connect your real estate brand to your customers.  Think beyond your brand's products or services, which can trail behind the story.  Third, create value in your content.  Create a story your audience will want to be a part of and one that leaves them feeling like you fully understand their needs.

  • What’s your history?
  • What do you stand for?
  • Why does your business exist?
  • What are your customer’s values?
  • What values define your company?
  • What differentiates you from your competitors?

Create brand stories that educate your followers and create an emotional hook that resonates with the consumer.  Why do you do what you do?  How can you use storytelling to influence your audience so they'll take action?  This story can be fiction or based on a real-life story.

  • Why do you do what you do?
  • How can you influence your audience?
  • Fiction vs. Real-Life

If you represent home sellers and want to convert more of your leads, who are also social media followers, tell a story (fiction or real-life) that draws in the reader and creates an unforgettable experience.  You could focus your story on the ups and downs home buyers experience and end with a happy ending.  You might begin with the struggles to get qualified for a mortgage, the joy in finding the perfect home only to be outbid by another buyer, the doubt that settles in when making an offer on another home, and finally, the excitement of having your offer accepted.  When you write a story with your customer in mind, you make it easier for them to feel a connection to the story.

Memes, Quotes, GIFs

One of the most creative ways to market to your audience on social media is to do it with memes, quotes, and GIFs.  Creative images that can be animated, like memes and GIFs, draw a lot of positive attention on social media.  Quotes placed on an attractive background tend to stop the scrolling and encourage engagement.

I guarantee you've seen memes and GIFs on all social media platforms that have stopped you from scrolling.  Memes and GIFs make you laugh, and they're engaging, relatable, and sharable.  In real estate, posting a meme that's a bit edgy tends to garner more attention and sharing.

If you want to see some real-estate-based memes, check out The Broke Agent on Instagram. As a real estate agent, you'll instantly be able to relate to the memes and GIFs. Although their posts are agent-to-agent based, you will feel inspired to post something similar that speaks to homebuyers and sellers. If you have any doubts about posting memes and GIFs on social media, take a look at the number of likes each of The Broke Agent posts receive; 13,000+ in some instances.

GIF

Your GIF images should be funny and relatable, inspiring your followers to want to share them.  They can be animated or static. Consider using giphy.com, Canva, or Photoshop to create your GIFs.  You can use videos provided on these sites, or you can upload your own video.  Add text and stickers over the video, or add a title above it, then download it and share it to your favorite social media feed.  Click on the link below to see a Mark Wahlberg GIF in action.

Quotes

Add positive, meaningful, and educational quotes to your social media feeds to engage your followers further. Consider putting the quote on a background that reflects your brand colors and preferred fonts. Crello, Canva, and Skitch, among others, provide a platform to create free quotes.

Pinterest is a great resource for motivational quotes (ex. Averstu quotes)

When creating quotes, use the correct size for the social media feed you're using; otherwise, your images will look stretched or pixelated, and your branding could get cut off. Visit this link for more information on social media image sizes.
