Are you thinking of relocating to another state? Want to get paid to move? You can get paid to relocate to many states and even abroad! Many local and state governments offer paid incentives to relocate as cities seek to bring new life to their areas. Let’s see what some U.S. states, and a few foreign countries, have to offer for moving incentives. Get ready to pack your bags!
Alaska
I love visiting Alaska and can only imagine what it’s like to live there. You could earn over $1,000 ($1,114 in 2021) by moving to Alaska and becoming a resident. Alaska’s Permanent Fund Dividend pays the dividend to residents who fill out an application and remain in Alaska for a year. Who’s ready for fantastic seafood and the Northern Lights!?
Ohio
Hamilton, Ohio, understands that student debt can be a bummer for college graduates and now offers them up to $10,000 to relocate. You can pay down your debt while living in an affordable city! Some qualifications apply, including graduating within the past seven years from a STEAM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics). Check out the scholarship here.
Oklahoma
Tulsa, Oklahoma, wants remote workers to move there and offers $10,000 to relocate. Wait, it gets better! They’re also offering a $1,000 housing stipend. Wait, there’s more! You’ll have access to the free coworking space, 36 Degrees North. Tulsa is a very affordable place to live, has a tight-knit community, and has lots to do. Check out what they have to offer on their website.
Tennessee
Chattanooga, Tennessee, invites you to take advantage of their “Geek Move” program, which offers 10 relocation packages for computer developers. You’ll receive $1,250 toward relocation expenses and $10,000 toward a mortgage. Chattanooga is an affordable place to live and an excellent place for young professionals.
Vermont
Vermont is a beautiful place to live (skiing, anyone!?), and you could receive $7,500 in relocation benefits thanks to the Remote Worker Grant. A relocation grant is also available for those who want to move to the state and fill job positions in businesses that have an acute need for workers (ex. medical facilities and schools). Learn more about these relocation and work opportunities here.
Living Abroad
Have you thought about living abroad? There are work relocation programs available in countries like Chile and Switzerland. Chile has been attracting technology entrepreneurs and mature technology startups by handing out $14,000-$80,000. Albinen, Switzerland, is dwindling in population and is hoping to get more families to move to the area by offering $25,200 to adults and $10,000 for each child. Your dream of living abroad could come true, AND you could receive cash when you move.
If you’re considering relocating to another state or another country, take advantage of the various cash incentives available. Relocating to another city could be your chance for a fresh start and some extra CASH. Don’t forget to send us a photo of your new house after you relocate!
